Serie A leaders Napoli are set to complete a deal for Empoli central defender Federico Barba, La Gazzetta dello Sport can reveal.
Former Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri had already recruited former players Mirko Valdifiori and Elseid Hysaj, and he now hopes to get reunited with Barba as well.
Even though the Azzurri demand €5 million for the 22-year-old footballer, it is believed that an agreement will be reached for €4 million in the coming days.
Federico Barba has shown a great deal of potential over the last couple of years, making 28 Serie A appearances and scoring 2 goals in the process.
He is now a member of Italy Under-21 side, although he has yet to make his first appearance for the Azzurrini.
Napoli currently lead the chase in Italian Serie A and they can be backed at 1/1 to stay there come end of the season and lift the first league trophy since 1990.
