Serie A outfit Napoli are in advanced talks to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.
The Azzurri have been disappointed with Manolo Gabbiadini’s performances since Arkadiusz Milik suffered an injury, and they are now determined to recruit a new centre forward in January.
And while they are also looking at other targets, Napoli appear to have made Simone Zaza their primary objective.
The Azzurri have been in contact with the player’s father and agent over the last few weeks and they hope they can agree a deal ahead of the January transfer window.
Simone Zaza is currently on loan at West Ham, but the Hammers are highly unlikely to activate the purchase clause considering the 25-year-old has yet to score his first goal for the club.
The good news for Napoli is that the striker is keen on returning to Italy and he would jump at the opportunity to join the Azzurri.
