Serie A high-flyers Napoli are no longer the main candidates to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to his official representative.
We informed you back in March that the Azzurri had agreed a deal to sign the Uruguayan, but they seem to have experienced problems in trying to wrap up the transfer.
Having hesitated to also reach an agreement with Torreira himself, Napoli could now miss out on the highly rated footballer.
“There was a basic agreement with Napoli,” the player’s agent Pablo Bentancur told Radio Crc.
“However, due to a timing problem I’m talking to other clubs. Everyone takes his own path.”
Lucas Torreira had become one of Serie A’s most sought-after footballers shortly after joining Sampdoria from Pescara, and he is now widely tipped to join a bigger club in the summer.
The player who scored 4 league goals this season has a €25 million release clause in his contract and chances are he will soon be leaving the Blucerchiati for greener pastures.
