Napoli deny interest in Gilardino

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied that he will be making a move for Alberto Gilardino.

The Fiorentina striker is widely tipped to leave Artemio Franchi this summer and he has recently been linked with a move to San Paolo.

Nevertheless, Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied such a possibility.

“Gilardino won’t be a Napoli player,” De Laurentiis told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The transfer market is still open for us, but only to correct anything that we may have got wrong in this phase.

“I have invested on four players to strengthen a squad that is already very competitive.”
