(GSM) – Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has dismissed speculative reports linking Marek Hamšík and Edinson Cavani with prospective moves to Manchester United.

It was claimed in the English media that the Red Devils were willing to offer up to £35million to acquire the services of Napoli’s attacking pair.

However, De Laurentiis insists Hamšík and Cavani will not be leaving the San Paolo any time soon.

He said to Radio Marte: “I’ve read that (Sir Alex) Ferguson would like to buy Hamšík and Cavani for 40million euros (£35million) and I started to laugh.

“Unfortunately, many people don’t realise that it is important to keep your best players to be able to become champions.”

Slovakian midfielder Hamšík is under contract with Napoli until June 2015, while Cavani, who joined Napoli from Palermo this summer, has signed a five-year contract with the Serie A outfit.
