Talk Sport are today reporting that Napoli have no interest in signing Lyon defender Aly Cissokho.
The Serie A side has been linked with Cissokho but it seems that any deal that could have happened is now off.
The Frenchman made 31 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and has caught the attention of a number of clubs in Europe over a possible deal in this summer’s transfer window.
With Napoli now out of the race to sign the 24-year-old, Tottenham may step up their interest to secure his services.
Andre Villas Boas is keen to link up with Cissokho to boost his defensive options on the left side. The former Porto man is a reliable defender that could suit the English Premier League perfectly.
Both Lyon and Tottenham will be competing in the Europa League next season so it makes for a difficult decision for Cissokho as the two teams seem fairly well matched.
That said though, he will know that the English top flight is one of the best in the world and good performances could see him get a call up for the France national side.
With just over three weeks of the transfer window left, the London club may look to do a deal quickly.
