La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Napoli are considering a move for Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao.
The Azzurri have been quite busy this summer, adding the likes of Raul Albiol, Pepe Reina, Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain to their ranks, but they are unlikely to end their summer recruitment just yet.
Having established excellent relationship with Real Madrid officials, Napoli chiefs are hoping to lure Fabio Coentrao to Stadio San Paolo.
New boss Rafael Benitez is a keen admirer of the Portugal international and he is looking to offer him an escape route from Santiago Bernabeu.
Coentrao has made it clear that he wants to leave los Blancos due to the lack of respect shown by club officials and he probably wouldn’t mind joining heavily reinforced Napoli.
Real’s high asking price could prove to be an obstacle to the deal, but the good news is Azzurri still have around €80 million left in their transfer kitty.
