Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Serie A giants Napoli have turned their attention towards Mainz full-back Giulio Donati.
The Azzurri recently missed out on Davide Santon and then decided to make a move on the former Inter Milan graduate.
Napoli officials are currently trying to agree a deal with both Mainz and the defender’s agents, and they are confidence of wrapping up the transfer.
Giulio Donati had come through the youth ranks at Inter Milan, but he went on to join Bayer Leverkusen after impressing while playing for the Italy Under-21 side.
The 26-year-old wasn’t able to nail down a regular starting berth at Bay Arena and was purchased by Mainz last January, but it looks as though he could again be moving clubs this summer.
Donati also has some Champions League experience, having featured in 16 CL games during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
