Serie A outfit Napoli are in talks with Liverpool over the loan signing of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Azzurri are preparing for life without Valon Behrami and they have so far been linked with Mario Suarez and Javi Garcia.
But they seem to be working on luring Lucas Leiva to Stadio San Paolo as well, hoping the Reds would allow the player to leave on a season-long loan.
The 27-year-old is no longer considered an automatic starter at Anfield and he may be interested in leaving Liverpool for Italian Serie A.
Lucas has spent last six and a half years at the club, making a total of 176 Premier League appearances and scoring 1 goal in the process.
Following the heavy summer recruitment that looks set to continue, the Reds are available at 10/1 to lift the Premier League title at the end of the season.
