Napoli go after Gilmour

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Napoli are expected to make a bid for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour in January.

The teenage sensation is already showing some great early signs, but right now, it doesn’t seem as if there is a consistent route into the first team for him. That may be the case in a few years but the 19-year-old may not want to wait that long, and Napoli are hoping to take advantage of that.

Frank Lampard is well aware of the potential that Gilmour has but he has so many superstars within his squad that it’s near enough impossible for him to find the right balance. On the flip side, many fan and pundits are of the belief that young British players can really benefit from heading abroad – with Jadon Sancho’s phenomenal run at Borussia Dortmund serving as proof of that.

Whether or not Gilmour himself is into the idea, though, remains to be seen.
