Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted that Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi could be returning to Stadio San Paolo.
The highly rated forward left the Azzurri to sign for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012, but he hasn’t quite managed to prove his worth at Parc des Princes.
Lavezzi has since been heavily linked with a return to Italian Serie A, with Inter Milan reportedly leading the chase.
His former club Napoli also appear ready to pounce in case the Argentine becomes available for sale.
“Lavezzi’s return to Napoli? It depends on Benitez, he will decide…,” Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis told Fox Sports.
“If Benitez deems useful to have Lavezzi as one of our attackers, then surely we can talk.”
Lavezzi has recently suffered a personal tragedy as his uncle was shot dead in Argentina, but he in turn went on to score a goal against Valenciennes.
The 28-year-old is reportedly interested in returning to Italy, but it remains to be seen if any of his suitors can reach an agreement with his current employers.
Napoli will be in action on Thursday as they face Swansea in Europa League, with the Azzurri 11/8 to win at Liberty Stadium.
