Serie A leaders Napoli are readying an ambitious assault on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to reports in Italy.
The Azzurri are aware that the Frenchman may become available for sale in the summer and chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to make his move.
Eager to persuade head coach Maurizio Sarri to stay, the movie mogul is prepared to try and lure Benzema to Stadio San Paolo.
De Laurentiis did something similar with Gonzalo Higuain, who kick-started his career in Naples and went on to join Juventus in a €90 million deal and they plan to do the same with the Frenchman.
With Real Madrid eager to recruit a new centre forward in the summer, this is clearly the right time to make a move on Benzema.
The 30-year-old has largely struggled for form this season, scoring mere 3 goals in 17 La Liga matches.
