Napoli are considering a late bid for Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Azzurri currently have Manolo Gabbiadini and Arkadiusz Milik as the only two players capable of operating as lone strikers, but they hope to add another quality centre forward to their ranks.
And with their top target Mauro Icardi set to sign a new deal with Inter Milan, Napoli are exploring the possibility of recruiting Carlitos Tevez instead.
It is believed that the former Juventus star is ready to return to Europe, but his exorbitant wage demands (€8m per season) have so far proved obstacle to any deal.
Nevertheless, reports from Italy suggest that Napoli are thinking about opening talks with the striker’s representatives in an attempt to persuade the player to move to Stadio San Paolo.
Carlos Tevez had a key role to play in helping Juventus secure 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 Serie A trophies, bagging 19 and 20 league goals respectively.
