La Gazzetta dello Sport has learned that Napoli are stepping up their efforts to sign FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.
The Azzurri currently lead the chase in Italian Serie A and are priced at 5/4 to stay there come end of the season.
In an attempt to keep their title bid on track, the club officials are working hard on January reinforcements, and they have now launched an assault on Hector Herrera.
Napoli believe the Mexican’s versatility would be of great help in the second part of the season, especially since coach Maurizio Sarri lacks cover for his starting midfielders.
Porto’s €30 million asking price could prove to be a problem, but the Azzurri, nonetheless, hope they can reach an agreement eventually.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Herrera will be offered a four-year deal worth €2.5 million per campaign.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form ever since he joined FC Porto from Pachuca and he has 5 goals in 13 league outings this season.
