Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that Napoli are weighing up a move for FC Porto midfielder Fernando.
Rafael Benitez has some excellent options in the centre of the park with Switzerland internationals Gokhan Inler, Valon Behrami and Blerim Dzemaili vying for two places, but the Spaniard is eager to add another quality player to the mix.
According to Il Corierre dello Sport, the Azzurri have recently turned their attention towards Porto’s Fernando.
The Brazilian has become one of the world’s most sought-after players, with Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and few more top clubs thought to be keen.
And with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, chances are that Porto will be forced to sell in January.
Napoli managed to close the gap behind leaders Roma to just three points as they recorded a hard-fought victory over Catania, with the Azzurri now 4/1 for the league title.
