Italian TV station Mediaset understands that Napoli are considering a summer move on Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino.
The Azzurri are perfectly happy with the impact first choice striker Gonzalo Higuain has had since joining the club, but his back-up Duvan Zapata does not have the required experience to successfully deputize for the Argentine.
It is for that reason that Napoli plan to sign a high-quality striker in the summer transfer window and they seem to have made Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino their number one target.
The 31-year-old has been scoring goals on regular basis in Serie A for over ten years now and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
Gilardino has been in fine form this term, bagging 14 goals in 32 league outings for the Rossoblu, but it remains to be seen whether he will be interested in a switch to Napoli.
The Azzurri face Udinese on the road on Saturday afternoon and they have been made 23/20 favourites to win at Friuli.
