Serie A outfit Napoli are hot on the trail of Cagliari forward Victor Ibarbo, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.
The Azzurri have opted against signing a new striker as they seem to believe Duvan Zapata can successfully deputize for Gonzalo Higuain, but they aim to recruit a quality forward who would replace Goran Pandev.
And with their long-term target Erik Lamela proving very expensive, Napoli will turn their attention to Cagliari’s Victor Ibarbo.
The Azzurri officials have closely monitored the player’s progress during last season and they have made a decision to try and lure him to Stadio San Paolo this summer.
Il Corriere dello Sport suggests that Cagliari want €10 million for the attacker who scored 13 goals in 102 Serie A fixtures for Isolani.
In spite of the fierce competition for places in attack, Ibarbo, 24, has been included in Colombia squad for the 2014 World Cup, with los Cafeteros 10/11 favourites to defeat Greece on Saturday.
