Napoli are stepping up their interest in Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.
After missing out on Sampdoria starlet Mauro Icardi, who appears to have reached an agreement with Inter, the Azzurri were forced to turn to the Brazilian striker.
Club chiefs are aware they will not be able to keep hold of Edinson Cavani for much longer, but they are not going to let him leave until a replacement arrives.
It is for that reason that Napoli are preparing a summer assault on Leandro Damiao, with the first contacts already established.
The Brazilian was on the verge of joining Tottenham on transfer deadline day, but he ultimately opted to remain at Internacional until the summer.
Meanwhile, Lazio defender Modibo Diakite is set to arrive on a free transfer in the summer transfer window, while the Azzurri also hope to lure Cagliari duo Radja Nainggolan and Davide Astori to Stadio San Paolo.
