Serie A leaders Napoli are hot on the trail of Sassuolo forward Matteo Politano, according to Tuttosport.
The Azzurri have been rejected by Bologna’s Simone Verdi and with Amin Younes unlikely to join in January either, they have turned their attention towards the Neroverdi starlet.
Maurizio Sarri is determined to recruit a quality winger who wouldn’t mind playing second fiddle to Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne, and he believes Matteo Politano is the right man for the job.
The winger’s agent Davide Lippi is trying to persuade Sassuolo to sell, but the Neroverdi seem determined to hold on to the 24-year-old at least until the summer.
Matteo Politano had come through the youth ranks at AS Roma, while he managed 17 goals and 13 assists in 92 competitive outings for Sassuolo.
