Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli have opened talks to sign Olimpia Asuncion full-back Richard Ortiz.
With Andrea Dossena heavily tipped to leave the club as soon as the transfer window reopens, the Azzurri are eager to sign a competition for left-sided midfielder Camilo Zuniga.
Il Corriere dello Sport suggests that the Serie A giants have made Richard Ortiz their number one target.
According to the same source, the player’s agent Diego Serrati has traveled to Italy to talk to Napoli officials.
Richard Ortiz has long ago shown his undoubted potential, but a serious knee injury prevented him from making a move to Europe earlier.
The left-sided midfielder, who is also followed by Fiorentina, is valued at around €6.5 million.
The fact that Ortiz already possesses an EU passport makes him even more appealing to clubs from Italy.
Ortiz has so far scored 10 goals in 95 appearances for Olimpia, while netting once in 5 matches for Paraguay national team.
