Boca Juniors teenage sensation Agustin Almendra has caught the eye of several of Europe’s top teams thanks to his flying form with the Argentine heavyweights.
The 18-year-old has previously been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Valencia but the Italian media report that Serie A hotshots Napoli have emerged as frontrunners for his signature.
The Argentine midfielder is considered to be one of South America’s hottest properties at the moment and Partenopei are keen to beat the competition to the punch this winter.
It is being reported that Napoli have already opened the talks with Boca Juniors. The Italian club have offered €15 million which is inches away from the €18 million stated in Almendra’s release clause.
Napoli sports director Cristiano Giuntoli is believed to be personally involved in transfer negotiations for Agustin Almendra and the Italian media insist he will continue to negotiate the possible deal for the 18-year-old talent throughout the January transfer window.
Almendra made nine starts for Boca juniors this season after breaking into the senior squad earlier this year.
