The agent of Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons has confirmed reports that Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is a big fan of his client.
The highly rated midfielder recently revealed he had rejected an opportunity to join the Azzurri in the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, his official representative has claimed that Gonalons could still be arriving at Stadio San Paolo in the near future.
“If Bigon (Napoli sporting director) calls me, I would gladly come to Naples,” agent Frederic Guerra told Radio Crc. “He (Rafael Benitez) had already wanted him as a coach of Liverpool”
“Bigon and I met a couple of times this summer to speak about Gonalons, but then nothing happened.”
It is no secret that Rafael Benitez is looking to add another central midfielder to his ranks in January and he is likely to return for the France international.
Gonalons may have rejected a move to San Paolo in the summer, but with Lyon unlikely to challenge for any trophies this term, the midfielder could easily change his mind.
Meanwhile, Napoli have largely impressed in the opening exchanges, and they are 7/25 to achieve another top 3 finish in Italian Serie A.
