Italian daily Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that Napoli are stepping up their interest in Cagliari players Radja Nainggolan and Davide Astori.
Even if coach Walter Mazzarri has yet to make a decision on his future at San Paolo, the club officials are already working on potential reinforcements for the 2013/2014 season.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Azzurri sporting director Riccardo Bigon is set to enter negotiations with Cagliari over Radja Nainggolan and Davide Astori.
The Belgian midfielder is club’s long-term target, but the high asking price and fierce competition for the player’s signature might prove to be a problem.
On the other hand, Italy international Astori is a more realistic option, and he is seen as a perfect long-term replacement for Hugo Campagnaro, who is set to join Inter in the summer.
The Azzurri are also looking at a number of high-profile strikers as they prepare for life without Edinson Cavani, and they have been casting admiring glances towards Cagliari’s Marco Sau.
