Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Luka Jovic from Real Madrid this summer. In fact, according to AS, the Serie A side have already contacted the Serbia international’s representatives in order to see if he would be interested in playing in Italy.
After a blissful season in the Bundesliga, where he had 34 goal involvements (27 goals, seven assists) in 48 games for Eintracht Frankfurt, the 22-year-old striker was briefly a subject of interest from Barcelona, but he eventually made his way to Real Madrid with head coach Zinedine Zidane looking for a backup option and a potential long-term successor for Karim Benzema. However, with his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu drawing to its close, it’s fair to say that Jovic hasn’t really lived up to the expectations at Madrid. This term, he has only managed two goals and as many assists in 24 appearances in the famous white shirt.
Napoli are set to lose Dries Mertens when his contract expires this summer, and they would like to replace him with Jovic. However, it seems Real would only be interested in a loan deal for the time being.
