Napoli are set to launch a final assault on Cagliari forward Victor Ibarbo, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Despite seriously reinforcing the attacking department, the Azzurri plan to sign another forward before Monday’s transfer deadline, with the 23-year-old one of the first names on their hit-list.
Club officials have been closely monitoring the talented footballer for over a year now, but it appears new boss Rafael Benitez also gave the green light after seeing the player in action.
Cagliari’s €12 million asking price is proving to be a problem, seeing as how president Massimo Celino has informed Napoli the amount is non-negotiable.
This basically means that it’s now up to the Azzurri to decide whether they want to splash the cash on the Colombian or turn their attention elsewhere.
Since arriving at Cagliari from Atletico Nacional two years back, Ibarbo has scored 9 goals in 73 Serie A appearances for Isolani.
