Serie A high-flying side Napoli are refusing to back down in the battle to sign Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko.
With Faouzi Ghoulam sidelined with a long-term injury the Partenopei want to strengthen their defensive lines and have identified Sime Vrsaljko as the main transfer target.
The Italian hot-shots have been linked with the Croatian international for quite some time but Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that Maurizio Sarri is pushing to close the deal for former Sassuolo defender as soon as possible.
Partenopei are believed to be in constant contact with the player’s agent Guiseppe Riso who, in turn, is negotiation a possible deal with the La Liga outfit.
Napoli have increased their offer to €20 million which is still €5 million below the asking price but Napoli are confident of a deal knowing that other suitors such as Juventus and AS Roma are making loan inquiries.
