Napoli president to have the last word on Koulibaly’s future

Kalidou Koulibaly has been one of the most talked-about players in the last several transfer windows. He has reportedly been the subject of interest for a number of top European clubs, and many believe it’s only a matter of time (and destination) when he’ll be leaving Napoli. Well, it seems it might actually happen this summer.

Last summer, the Serie A side demanded over €110 million for his services, which would’ve made him the most-expensive defender ever. But no club matched that valuation, and with president Aurelio De Laurentiis known as a hard negotiator, the player stayed put.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Napoli can expect no suitor to come in with such an offer this summer either, and he believes the price will be lower this time. Koulibaly will turn 29 in June, and that will completely blow away any resale value, which is an important aspect when it comes to interested Premier League clubs – Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain won’t care about that and a move to the French capital would suit Koulibaly, but Solhekol believes that De Laureniis’ demands will determine his next club.
