Serie A hot-shots Napoli are looking to bolster their options in goal as Pepe Reina looks set to leave Partenopei this summer after an underwhelming season in Italy.
Napoli are believed to have looked at a number of targets but the choice has been narrowed down to Real Sociedad shot stopper Geronimo Rulli.
Radio Marca suggested that Partenopei first prepared a €15 million bid for the Real Sociedad man, whereas Diario AS claim the current offer stands at €22 as Napoli refuse to give up on signing a goalkeeper who is thought to have a €40 million release clause in his contract.
The latest offer from Napoli comes with a signing-on fee through Rilli’s agent Facundo Fraga, who presented the Napoli proposal to Real Sociedad president Jokin Apperibay last week.
The Basque club is, however, determined to keep hold of a shot stopper who is said to be very happy with life in San Sebastian. Rulli is currently involved in club’s preseason and is preparing for a trip to the Netherlands where Real Sociedad continue their preparations for next season.
Geronimo Rulli is one of the hottest goalkeeping prospects in European football and the 25-year-old was also linked with Manchester City before the Citizens opted to go for the Benfica shot stopper Ederson de Moraes.
