Serie A giants Napoli have decided against allowing back-up striker Duvan Zapata to leave Stadio San Paolo, Il Corriere dello Sport understands.
The Colombian forward has been playing second fiddle to Gonzalo Higuain in Naples, but he has shown a great deal of promise every time he deputized for his Argentine teammate.
As a result, several high-profile clubs expressed their interest in his services during the January transfer window, but coach Rafael Benitez ultimately did not want him to leave.
The Spaniard rejected offers from Shakhtar Donetsk and Udinese as he seems to believe that Zapata could have an important role to play at Stadio San Paolo for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old, who joined from Estudiantes in August 2013, has made a total of 10 Serie A appearances this season, and he did really well to score four goals despite spending less than 300 minutes on the pitch.
