Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno understands that Arsenal were told to forget about signing Algerian defender Faouzi Ghoulam.
The Gunners are believed to have been keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old as they plan to reinforce the left side of defence, and they recently decided to step up their interest.
However, Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis made it clear to Arsenal that his star player was not for sale, meaning that the Premier League side will have to search elsewhere.
After the slow start to his career at Stadio San Paolo, Ghoulam has shown a great deal of improvement, and is now considered an undisputed starter.
His solid showings proved enough to catch the eye of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, but Napoli in turn decided to keep hold of the Algeria star as they hope to turn this season into a major success.
The Azzurri currently sit mere two points behind league leaders Fiorentina and they are 5/2 shot to lift the coveted trophy.
