Napoli have moved to deny reports that they are set to make an official offer for Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic.
The Montenegrin international is one of the hottest commodities in world football and he has been linked with a switch to San Paolo.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has now confirmed that he is in awe of Jovetic, but he also claims that he won’t be making any bids out of respect for the Fiorentina owners.
“If I didn’t have so much respect for my friends, the Della Valle family (Fiorentina owners), then I would be asking them on a daily basis to sell me Jovetic,” De Laurentiis told Radio Blu.
“He is a talented player with a long future ahead of him. None of us should move to take great players away from each other.”
The two sides are set to meet each other in the Serie A clash this evening, as they aim to further improve their respective league positions.
Stevan Jovetic missed a big part of last season with a knee ligament injury, but he returned even stronger than before.
The Montenegrin international has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 12 goals in 17 Serie A appearances.
