Italian daily newspaper Il Mattino has learned that Serie A giants Napoli are readying summer bid for PSV Eindhoven full-back Jetro Willems.
The Azzurri seem to be preparing for life after Faouzi Ghoulam, who is unlikely to sign a new deal at Stadio San Paolo.
With another year left on his current contract, the Algerian is widely expected to leave Napoli in the summer and the club officials believe Jetro Willems would be a very good long-term replacement.
The 23-year-old has so far amassed 140 Eredivisie appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals, and this will feel as the right time to embark on a new challenge.
Napoli were also looking at Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo, but they were put off by the high asking price believed to be well over €30 million.
The Azzurri are six points clear of Lazio in the race for the final Champions League berth and they are priced at 7/5 to beat leaders Juventus.
