Napoli are set to sign Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo, according to Fabrizio Romano, following a successful conclusion of the transfer negotiations between the two clubs. The fee that the Serie A champions will be paying for the services of the young midfielder is believed to be set at €36 million, add-ons included.
A number of top clubs across Europe were linked with Gabri in the past, not least in England where the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea were said to be keeping an eye on him and considering attempts to take him to the Premier League. However, there doesn’t seem to have been any concrete steps to make any of it happen, and Napoli have obviously taken advantage of the situation.
The highly-rated 21-year-old playmaker was only promoted to the senior ranks at Celta last summer, and during the 2022/23 season, he made a total of 39 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and producing four assists. He also had a 17-minute cameo in the 0-2 defeat to Osasuna in the opening game of the current La Liga campaign last week.
