According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are set to complete the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur forward Fernando Llorente within the next few days. The 34 year old veteran is available on a free transfer, and has been linked with a series of top European clubs over the course of the summer transfer window. This includes Manchester United and Inter Milan, with both deals falling apart for one reason or another.
The fact that Llorente is gaining so much interest even at this point in his career tells you all that you need to know regarding what kind of a player he is. Sure, he may not be the world’s best forward, but he is certainly good enough to feature in a back-up role, or potentially even starting, for a lot of top sides around European football.
Either way, it seems like he’ll be back out on the pitch sooner rather than later.
