Napol defender Hugo Campagnaro has set his sights on staying at San Paolo, his representative has revealed.
Despite having just over six months left on his current deal, the experienced defender has yet to sign a contract extension with the Azzurri, which has led to speculations linking the player with a January move away from the club.
However, even if Campagnaro has received plenty of offers from interested sides, he has no intention of leaving San Paolo.
“We are working on a renewal,” the player’s agent Alejandro Mazzoni explained to Radio CRC. “It will probably be the last contract of my client’s career and we can’t be rushed.
“I’m optimistic that he will remain, even if I can confirm that there are a lot of sides interested in his services.
“We have a good relationship with Napoli, we are discussing things withtranquillity and we are in no rush whatsoever.”
Campagnaro, 32, has been an important member of Walter Mazzarri’s three-man defence ever since he joined the club from Sampdoria back in 2009.
He has since made 103 Serie A appearances for the Azzurri, scoring three goals in the process.
In addition, Campagnaro has featured in eight Champions League matches for the club, while also making seven appearances during club’s Europa League campaign.
