Napoli step up chase for Andre Gomes

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Napoli are stepping up their efforts to sign Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes from Valencia.

The Azzurri finally appear ready to challenge for the Serie A trophy and they want to give themselves the best possible chance of winning the race by properly strengthening in January.

Napoli plan to offload the likes of Jonathan De Guzman, Camilo Zuniga and Henrique, meaning they will be able to afford one high-profile signing.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Azzurri have made Valencia hotshot Andre Gomes their primary target, as they hope that the Portugal starlet wouldn’t mind leaving los Che after the disappointing start to the current season.

Napoli officials are aware that dealing with an investment fund led by Jorge Mendes will be no easy task, but they seem prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that the 22-year-old arrives at Stadio San Paolo in the January window.
