Serie A giants Napoli are stepping up their efforts to recruit Argentine goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Real Sociedad, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Azzurri are in the market to sign a high-quality shot-stopper who would take over from Pepe Reina, and the La Real star appears to have emerged as their top target.
Rulli recently confirmed to El Mundo Deportivo that he was aware of the official proposal, admitting he was tempted by the prospect of moving to Stadio San Paolo.
The Azzurri would prefer to sign the player on a loan deal with an automatic purchase clause determined by the number of appearances, and it remains to be seen whether Real Sociedad will be interested in such an arrangement.
Having improved his status in the Argentina national team, Rulli is eager to take part at the 2018 World Cup, meaning he would need some guarantees if he was to join Napoli.
