Serie A heavyweights Napoli are set to make it ever so difficult for Liverpool to grab their long-term target Piotr Zielinski.
The latest reports coming from Il Mattino are suggesting that the 24-year-old midfielder is keen to extend his contract with the Partenopei. The Reds have long been linked with a move for the Polan international but could miss out on him if Zielinski puts pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
There could be some hope left for Liverpool – and other suitors – as Zielinski’s agent is pushing for an €80 million release clause to be inserted in any future deals with Napoli.
This could, ultimately, be understood as a clear signal, suggesting that Zielinski would be interested in a move elsewhere sometime in the future.
Napoli, however, are not too keen on adding a release clause and will look for alternative ways to sweeten the deal and persuade their star player to pen a deal that would keep him at San Paolo until 2023.
