The task has fallen to Napoli to dethroned Italian super club Juventus this season, and the Ciucciarelli are giving it their best attempt. They currently sit at the top of the Serie A table, one point above the Old Lady, and they are in prime position to secure the league title.

Regardless of whether they do indeed end the season victorious or not, Napoli are unsurprisingly looking ahead to the summer transfer window and a chance to bolster their squad, allowing them to challenge Juventus in the long-term.

With that in mind, Mauro Icardi’s name has appeared at the top of their shopping list, according to the Guardian. A £50m bid for the Inter Milan marksman was rejected, and Napoli could improve on that offer come the end of the season.

Icardi has 18 goals in 22 Serie A appearances this season, and has established himself as one of the top strikers in Europe over the past few seasons.
