Narrow win for Zenit St. Petersburg

Zenit St. Petersburg began their 2010 Russian League campaign with a 0-1 win at Krylya Sovetov on Saturday.

The only goal of the match, played at Samara’s Metallurg stadium, came from Zenit’s Venezuelan striker Danny in the 66th minute.

With Sunday’s fixtures still ahead, Tom Tomsk lead the league thanks to a 0-2 win at Rostov. Sergey Kornilenko scored both goals, the first in the 63rd minute and the second in the 88th.

Defending Rubin Kazan begin their league season on Sunday, in a home match with Lokomotiv Moscow.
