Brazilian midfielder Nathan Souza has moved to confirm that he has agreed to join Premier League champions Chelsea.
The 19-year-old was on the Blues’ radar for quite a while and it appears that they have now wrapped up the deal for the talented footballer.
The Daily Mail has suggested a £4.5 million transfer has been agreed, with the player announcing the switch via his Instagram account.
“A dream is coming true!,” a caption next to a succession of photos showing Nathan wearing Chelsea training gear read.
“First of all I want to thank God for always lighting my way, my dad who always believed in my talent and was a real warrior while helping me to reach my goals, my family and friends who always supported me…
“And I am also thankful to Club Atletico Paranaense, which was part of this journey and where I played for 6 years of my career. Thank you Chelsea for trusting in me, I will do my best to support my team on reaching new achievements. WE ARE ALL BLUE’
Nathan hasn’t quite managed to leave his mark in the Brazilian top flight having only made a total of 20 league appearances, but he impressed playing for Brazil’s youth sides.
The midfielder was one of country’s star performers at the Under-20 South American Championship in Uruguay and he appears to have done enough to earn a lucrative move to Chelsea.
It remains to be seen whether Nathan will be granted a work permit, but the more likely scenario will see him loaned out in the summer.
