Navas excited by Man City rumours; Varela happy with Man Utd trial

Sevilla FC winger Jesus Navas has revealed it would be a 'dream' to play for Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.

Sevilla FC winger Jesus Navas has revealed it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City, ESPN understands.

Pellegrini, who is currently in charge of Spanish La Liga side Malaga CF, is expected to be named the new City boss at the end of the season.

Navas, 27, has been linked with an exit from the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán due to the Sevillistas’ well-documented financial woes.

Alvaro Negredo, Federico Fazio and Gary Medel have also been linked with summer moves away from the Andalusian side.

“You can be excited when you are there and you dream, but we are going to wait until the season ends and for summer to come to see what happens,” Navas told Spanish TV channel La Sexta. “We would have to see if both clubs could come to an agreement.”

“Pellegrini is a coach who has given a lot in every place he has been, with very nice football. He looks like a great person.”

Navas, who has played his entire career at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, has bagged one goal and five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions for Sevilla this season.

The Sevilla captain has suffered a bit of a dip in form in 2012-13 after tallying five goals and 12 assists in 37 league appearances for the club last term, but remains an important player for manager Unai Emery.

Varela happy with Man Utd trial

Club Atlético Peñarol full-back Guillermo Varela has suggested he has been delighted with his trial spell at Manchester United, Sky Sports reports.

Varela, 20, joined United on trial earlier this month in order to spend a few weeks training with the first-team.

According to the 20-year-old Uruguay youth international, Mexico international striker Javier “El Chicharito” Hernandez helped him acclimate to his new environment and grueling training exercises.

“I have trained with the first-team,” Varela told Tirando Paredes.

“I am very happy and I was received very well.

“It was a surprise to get the chance to test with Manchester United. I’m glad and happy, and grateful to Penarol who allowed me to travel.

“I was treated so well and Chicharito [Javier Hernandez] helped me a lot. The work outs were short but very demanding.”

Varela is expected to play for Uruguay in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey this summer. Uruguay are in Group F, which also includes Croatia, New Zealand and Uzbekistan, and have been tipped to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
