Sevilla’s Freddie Kanoute believes the return of strike partner Jesus Navas could be a turning point for his struggling side.
Kanoute was on target as Sevilla beat Osasuna 1-0 on Sunday to snap a run of five straight losses and move up to ninth in La Liga.
The match was also Navas’ first appearance for Sevilla in more than three months after an ankle injury kept him sidelined, and Kanoute believes his return could be the start of a good run for the side.
“(Navas) has done very well considering it is his first match back,” Kanoute told the club’s website. “He will improve game by game and I’m happy because he is very good guy.”
“We wanted to start well because we ended the year poorly and it was very important to start this way. The victory comes at a great time. ”
“Starting the year so far will help us to get more confidence. There is no need for despair, we must go on, we need to rise again in the league.”
Sevilla travel to the Estadio Municipal de Anoeta on Saturday to take on Real Sociedad.
