According to a recent report from Marca, Real Madrid’s back-up goalkeeper Keylor Navas has put forward a request to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. The reason for this is because he no longer wants to be a second string goalkeeper within the squad, which is what has been happening due to the rise of Thibaut Courtois. While some fans and media members would probably just tell him to sit back and get on with his job, we can understand his desire to be the number one for whatever club he may go to.
Madrid reportedly want to act fast before Navas does eventually leave, by putting Andriy Lunin on standby for an eventual recall from his loan deal with Real Valladolid.
Whether or not that is feasible remains to be seen, but either way, Navas deserves the opportunity to shine on the big stage – and he isn’t going to get that with Madrid.
