Malaysian starlet Nazmi Faiz is set to depart S-League side Harimau Muda after reports linking him with a top-flight club in Portugal.

The possibility of the switch has been reported by Football Management International, the company which is brokering the deal.

Football Management International football director Marco Guimares has explained the details of the deal in a statement regarding the unnamed Portuguese club who are interested in the services of the teenager.

“The club is a mid-table side in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and they were impressed by Nazmi after seeing videos of him in action,” Guimaraes told Today newspaper.

“The move to Europe would help further develop the talent he has, because he will be challenging to play in the first team, and not just there for an attachment.

“We are looking to finalise details, with Nazmi and his father flying to Portugal on Sunday to discuss with the club and perhaps sign a pre-contract.”

However, Nazmi will only be able to sign a professional contract with his new club after turning 18 on August 16, according to the FIFA regulations.

Earlier this year, the Kuala Lumpur-born youngster was reportedly set to join English club Cardiff City but was unsuccessful due to strict British work permit regulations.
