Sunderland have terminated the contract of club record signing Didier Ndong, according to the Telegraph.
The move comes after the Gabon international only returned to training on Monday having failed to find a new club over the summer – a serious breach of his contract.
Ndong penned a five-year deal with the Black Cats upon signing in 2016 and made thirty-one appearances for the club in his first season, scoring his one and only goal in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Needless to say, that was not enough to help the North East outfit avoid dropping to the Championship, while he failed to score in eighteen Championship appearances before he moved to Watford on loan as his parent club suffered a second straight relegation.
He didn’t make a single appearance for the Hornets and now becomes the second Sunderland player to be relieved of his duties this season after defender Papy Djilobodji was dismissed earlier this month.
