Looking to start the post-Dean Smith era with a win, Brentford will welcome Bristol City to Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, with Dean Smith heading to Villa Park to replace Steve Bruce earlier in the month, assistant boss Thomas Frank has now been promoted to the man in charge. While Brentford were tipped by many to be a contender for a top-six finish, the Bees are coming off the back of three consecutive draws prior to the international break. Yet to be beaten at Griffin Park this year, Frank will be looking for Championship top scorer Neal Maupay to carry on his very eye-catching start to the new season. The 22-year-old has already scored 10 goals and also has six in his last five at home.
As for the visitors, while a bright start to the season may have seen Bristol City planning a playoff push, the Robins have struggled prior to the international break. Coming off the back of a 2-1 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Lee Johnson’s side are now without a win in their last five Championship outings. Now failing to find the net in their last two matches on the road, City, have fallen out of the top half of the table. Johnson’s side will also be low on confidence given their recent record against Brentford. The visitors have now failed to win any of their last nine meetings with the Bees.
