Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved confirms his definitive retirement at his website. The 37- year-old Nedved already decided to leave his club Juventus after last summer.
The former player of Dukla Prague, Sparta Prague and Lazio decided not to continue as a footballer although he received various offers from clubs around the world.
Nedved put a statement on his official website:
“I have decided not to accept any of the offers I received in recent weeks, and finally end my career. I will now dedicate my time to my family, wife, and children.“
Nedved spent the glory days of his career in Italy, where he joined Lazio in 1996. With the Romans he won the Scudetto (2000), the Cup Winners Cup (1999), the Super Cup (1999) and the Super Coppa Italiana (1998 and 2000).
In 2001 he went to Juventus. With `La Vecchia Signora` he won the Scudetto in 2002 and 2003 and the Supercoppa Italiana in the same years.
In 2003 Nedved won the Ballon d’Or when he was voted as best European player.
