Atletico Madrid have launched an assault on Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo, Marca has learned.
Los Colchoneros need a replacement for Chelsea-bound Diego Costa and they have made the Spain international one of their primary targets.
According to Marca, Atletico Madrid have submitted an official proposal for the player’s services worth €15 million, while the Citizens are believed to be holding out for €30 million.
The Premier League champions are convinced Negredo has what it takes to succeed in England and will only sell him in case of a very good offer.
The forward himself, however, wants to return to La Liga and is reportedly keen on moving to Vicente Calderon.
Alvaro Negredo, 28, joined Manchester City from Sevilla last summer and went on to score 9 goals in 32 Premier League appearances, while netting 14 times in other competitions.
Despite scoring three goals in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, the striker eventually missed out on Spain World Cup squad.
