Chicago Fire have announced the signing of Hungarian forward Nemanja Nikolic from Legia Warsaw on their official website.
The highly rated footballer decided to leave the Polish champions in search of regular playing time and he has now secured a lucrative move to the United States.
Chicago Fire have signed Nikolic as a Designated Player on a three-year deal ahead of the 2017 campaign, subject to the receipt of International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.
The MLS side representatives were clearly delighted with their latest capture, with Nikolic arriving with an outstanding goalscoring record.
“Through this transfer, we have secured a champion in his prime, and one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe over the last few years,” Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez said.
“In addition to his on-field talents, Nemanja is a fantastic person. His relentless pursuit of victory and goals is certain to make him a fan favorite.”
After enjoying five and a half very successful seasons with Videoton, the 28-year-old made the switch to Legia Warsaw in July 2015 and he went on to score 56 goals in 86 competitive appearances.
However, he then surprisingly lost his place in the starting line-up and decided to leave Legia for greener pastures.
